How do I remove a popcorn/textured ceiling, by myself?
Popcorn texture ceiling where used very widely a few decades ago and if you now want to return to the natural smooth surface than you have a difficult task in hand when trying to remove the popcorn texture ceiling. First of all, you have to make sure whether your ceiling has asbestos in it as it is dangerous do you health and if the answer is yes, you should not try to remove the ceiling on your own, but rather ask help from professionals as they know how to be careful and not to get poisoned by the asbestos.

Even if there is no asbestos, take care of your health by covering your face and body and use respirators when removing the ceiling. Than turn of the fan and remove all the furniture from the room. Cover the floor in the room and start to wet the ceiling, if you have checked that the ceiling is wet enough start to scrape off the popcorn texture. Actually, this task is so hard that before starting, it is advised for you to gather more information and ask help from people who have done it before just to be confident and make sure that you do not forget to do something that might be important when removing the ceiling.
