·         Take down the old fan from the ceiling. It is easier to position lights when the fan is lying than holding up things and installing lights while on a ladder. Although it might seem like a brilliant idea to save time your muscles will appreciate it.

·         Remove its decorative plate for cover the place for a light kit. Keep the screws from it for safe keeping with or in your pocket. After removing the plate, be sure you see white and black wires available for attaching the lights.

·         Run the white and black wires through the center plate on the new lights, which you will attach the same way as the decorative plate did.

·         Screw the lights onto the center plate and using the nuts given in the kit, secure these wires to the old ceiling fan, matching up the black and white ones with the corresponding colors.

·         Attach the center plate with the fixed lights to the fan and using the screws you saved earlier, reattach the decorative plate.
