Would a gallery of pictures be appropriate with high ceilings?
I have seen a house with high ceilings and she had beautiful artwork on the walls alll the way up to the ceiling. Is it better to keep artwork lower or would it be o.k to have pics, etc. all the way up? Is painting one wall a good idea?

it really depends on the design of the house. leaving a wall unpainted when all of the other walls are painted would leave a dull area in your house. evenly distributing decoration and art to the walls and ceiling is a better idea.
