cutting holes in knotty pine ceiling

my question is, what do you use to cut your knotty pine ceiling when you have
recessed lighting cans?

Some sort of small jig saw?
6 inch or so diameter, round of course.

Just installing my ceilng now and we have about 12 cans or so to cut.
