I am interested in painting a tray ceilings.

I am hoping to find tips and suggestions about how to plan for it.  Do you make it darker or lighter in the middle?  does that add depth?  Do you paint one of the walls the same color as the tray ceiling. Thanks!

Debbie Travis painted house explaines the technique, we are going to paint our dining room ceiling using a light color for the 5 inch outer border, a darker color for the 1" band then a mid tone for the middle, also by painting a diag. line in the corners of the dark band will give the effect of a proper corner. This should give you the effect of a single tray.
