i have a cathedral ceiling in my living room that has wallboard on the walls. my wall has cracks at both ends from the peak down about 18 inches.

i have taped and mudded it again once and the cracks come back. what about using plastic tape in stead of paper? i don't know what to do about this.

are the new cracks the same cracks that you mudded? are your walls concrete, plaster etc? there are different ways on how you can repair those cracks. you can use crack injection with epoxy. you can find it in your local hardware stores.
