we just had some plaste repairs done to our ceiling. we were thinking about have doing a textured ceiling to cover up all of the imperfections. is this a good solution to even everything up? are there different textures to use? do you recommend any

yes, it is a good way to hide the imperfections. there are different textures that you can utilize. but since you are planning on covering the imperfections, any kind of texture would do.
