will installing black tiles to a low basement ceiling look bad?

we are finishing a basement and want to use black grids and ceiling tiles. we like the look of the black tiles in the various businesses/ restaurants we have seen them in. our fear is that the room will look and feel like a cave. does anyone have experience with a black ceiling in low rooms?
