how to apply spanish/french lace ceiling texture
what tools to use? thinning joint compound? etc. patching holes 4"circles-patch with tape or just compound?

you need some plastic cover to cover up those spaces which doesn't need to be covered with the texture. texture spray, some protective materials such as gloves and cover for the mouth. some tape. mixing container. as for the compound, it depends on the manufacturer's instructions.
