drywall is intrinsicall fire resitant due to the moisture content of about 30% depending on ambient conditions. the main thing that makes it fire resitant thought id the fact that it is made primarely out of gypsum whcih is fire resistant in the same way as concrete. if you woulg like good fire reistnace you should use 5/8 thick.
